Who We Are

Roger Townley is President of Townley Associates, a consulting firm specializing in food product development and related technical services. Started in 1991, Townley Associates has served numerous national accounts such as Boston Market, America’s Favorite Chicken, Golden Corral, Taco Bell, and Hardee’s. Many food service manufacturers have also benefited from Townley Associates’ expertise including Nabisco, Tyson Foods, Universal Flavors, Con Agra and Basic American Foods, to name a few of our satisfied clients.

Prior to founding Townley Associates, Roger Townley was Director of Research and Development for Hardee’s Food Systems and Jerrico, Inc., parent company of Long John Silver’s and Jerry’s Restaurants. Before joining the food service industry, Townley worked in Researchand Development for Campbell Taggart, Inc., the nation’s second largest baking company.

kansasstateHolding a B.S. Degree in Bakery Science from Kansas State and M.S. Degree in Food Science from North Carolina State, Townley brings over 25 years industry experience to assist clients with their product development and technical needs. He is a professional member of the Institute of Food Technologists and serves on the Alumni Board for the Department of Food Science at N.C. State University. He is also active in the National Restaurant Association and is a frequently invited speaker for industry conferences and meetings.

Additionally, Townley has provided expert witness testimony in several food related trials including the case involving Jack in the Box restaurants in Washington state.


Townley Associates had humble beginnings as you can see. But, thanks to an entrepreneurial spirit honed at the Young Executives Institute (UNC-Chapel Hill) the business has grown.
